Terms of service
These cover this website and the free software published here, including the browser extensions. Written plainly on purpose. If something is unclear, ask rather than guess.
1. Who you are dealing with
This site and the software on it are published by Ken Lee, an individual developer, reachable through the contact form. Where these terms say "I" or "me" they mean that person, and "you" means you.
2. Using the software
The browser extensions and web tools published here are free to use for any purpose, personal or commercial. No account is needed and there is nothing to pay.
You agree not to:
- redistribute a modified copy while presenting it as the original,
- use a tool to reach systems you are not authorised to reach,
- point a tool at a third party's website in a way that places unreasonable automated load on it. The link checker has rate controls and they are there for a reason.
You are responsible for how you use these tools, and for having permission to inspect whatever you point them at.
3. No warranty
The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. I test my work and I care about it being right. I cannot promise it is free of defects or that it suits your situation.
One thing worth stating outright. The SEO and diagnostic tools report what they observe. They are informational. Nothing they tell you is a guarantee about how any search engine will treat your site, and no ranking outcome is promised or implied anywhere.
4. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue or profits, arising out of your use of this site or the software.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is capped at the greater of what you paid me in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars. For free software that first figure is zero.
Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
5. Third-party services
Some tools interact with websites and services I do not control. Where a tool sends anything to a third party, that is disclosed in the privacy policy. Those third parties have their own terms and I am not responsible for them.
6. Changes and availability
I may change, update or discontinue any tool at any time. I may also change these terms, and the date at the top changes when I do. Continuing to use the software after that means you accept the revised version. Nothing here is a promise of continued availability or of support.
Where software is distributed through the Chrome Web Store, that store's own terms also apply to your installation of it.
7. Paid products
Nothing on this site is currently sold. Desktop and web apps are in development. When any of them go on sale they will carry their own purchase terms covering price, billing, refunds and licence scope, and those terms will govern the purchase. This document creates no payment obligation.
8. Intellectual property
The site content, the product names and the branding are mine. Using the software transfers no ownership in it. Where a component is used under an open-source licence, that licence governs that component.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the state and country in which I reside, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If any provision turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
10. Contact
The contact form. Genuine bug reports get answered first.
